This message is to welcome you to the Lebanon, New Hampshire Police Department’s website. We have forty-eight full time members who operate in a variety of capacities to bring a professional level of service to the residents and visitors of Lebanon. We hope you find the website informative, interesting and helpful as you look for information and services.

Lebanon is the hub of the Upper Valley where many people work, live and engage in recreation. Many attractions, employers, businesses and services are available in Lebanon which makes this geographic area a busy and exciting community for all. We hope you can enjoy all this area has to offer including our fine restaurants, art galleries, museums, rivers for kayaking and fishing, lakes for sailing and boating and many trails for hiking and walking, as well as the natural beauty of the landscape that surrounds us.

As you live, work or engage in recreation, know that we are always here to ensure your safety and to help you should you become a victim of crime or need us to assist you in any way. Community members are the best eyes and ears for what is happening in our neighborhoods and business districts and we count on citizens to report activity to the police department so we can be effective in our work. Working with our citizens in an open and cooperative manner is what makes us effective and keeps us connected to the people we serve.

ABOUT CHIEF ALEXANDER:
 
Chief Alexander joined the Lebanon Police Department in 1990 as a Patrol Officer. Through his career, he was promoted to Corporal, Sergeant, and Lieutenant. In August of 2002, he was promoted to Captain and assumed Administrative duties, overseeing the Detective Division and Communications. In May 2004, he was promoted to Deputy Police Chief and served as an assistant to the Chief of Police. On March 1, 2006, he was promoted to Chief of Police.

Prior to joining Lebanon, Chief Alexander worked as a Patrol Officer for the Brattleboro, Vermont Police Department beginning in 1987.  
 
Chief Alexander is a 2004 graduate of the FBI National Academy, Session 219, and also holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Granite State College in Criminal Justice Administration. He is married, has two adult children and has lived in Lebanon during his time at the police department. He is a founding member of the Grafton County Drug Court and an active participant on their steering committee, as well as a member of the Board of Directors for the Lebanon Outing Club which operates our community ski hill, Storrs Hill Ski Area.
